Yes, it was that time of the year when the US mass-slaughters millions of turkeys for that famed dish and tradition. Instead, I went down to Mexico to help keep beef, chicken, and goats on the table! I went hiking, rock climbing, saw movies, saw the family, hanged out, ate out, ate tacos & white chocolate and pecan tamales, spicy salsas, machacado con huevo, went clubbing, drinking, more drinking, two funerals, shopping, met pretty ladies, and designed knives. All in the span of 7 days approximately. The whole trip was quality. Guajolote Day in Monterrey was a lot of fun, probably more than staying in the States

I’m now sitting at home after going hiking to the North Tripyramid Mountain last weekend. Along the way, Mr. Nutz and I saw many moose prints, one bear scat, and plenty of other wildlife signs. Unfortunately, we also had plenty of minor mishaps: I scraped and cut my knees, Nutz cut his finger whittling with a knife (cutting towards himself, of course), and on Saturday night I got sick with a cold. Last night I had a fever, and today I’m better but unable to taste chocolate or anything else.
The plan to light a camp fire was also not achieved due to our lack of skills. Plan A was to light it using only a match and kindling but that didn’t succeed due to damp, useless kindling and windy conditions. Plan B involved spilling white gas on the wood and lighting it but that didn’t work either as the gas burned out pretty quickly. Plan C was to hold the burning camping stove below the kindling sticks… but that plan also didn’t work…
Still, we had a good time, and we were able to get 12 hours of sleep that on any other MITOC trip we won’t have been able to enjoy

Everyone needs friends like these: they win 50 free appetizers at a trendy lounge/bar, and they invite you to consume them! That was the excuse last night to go out and enjoy seeing some the costumes roaming around the city for Halloween. The appetizers weren’t anything special, although the bruchettas were excellent. The company was solid and we enjoyed the socializing until we headed home around eleven.

So I went hiking with the MITOC kids for Fall Circus this last weekend, and I took a bunch of them for a little adventure. You can find the trip pics and report here: Frank’s Pics. Also better pics to look at, here: Matthew’s Pics.
The whole weekend was a ton of fun. There’s some snow accumulation beginning to appear in the valleys with the King Ravine floor having a solid 6 or 12 inches already.

So… my dad is in NYC for a little training, and I decided to go visit him at NYC while I work at IBM during the day, I can hang out with him during the nite. However, today the IBM corporate directory croaked and I cannot be productive since a lot of the tools I use are tied to that directory. I guess I’ll write a blog entry about it, and call it a day!
